Local Authorities
Reduce the number and length of journeys involved with the physical conveyance of paper forms.
Targeted support
Working with Local Authorities as direct customers and as partners of NHS clients, Thalamos supports social services and Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs), who are responsible for deciding whether an application should be made to admit someone to hospital, to complete their statutory roles more effectively so patients can receive care without delay.
Thalamos eMHA reduces the number and length of journeys involved with the physical conveyance of paper forms by allowing all parties involved in the admission of a patient to communicate digitally and fulfil their role in care. Increased accuracy and Section 15 amend workflows save significant time in previously having to return to hospital sites at a later stage to amend errors or complete additional forms.
Benefits
- Richer data accuracy to inform strategic decisions to improve patient outcomes and services
- Access to patient information at point of need for professionals to inform decisions
- Improved partnership working across organisations
- Interoperable readiness
- Reduction in errors, resulting in less time spent per admission
- Protection for patients and their data
- Improved patient outcomes
- Clinical safety
- Supporting current team structures (ability to share forms between shift staff and other teams)
- Simpler information governance
Local Authorities, in conjunction with local trusts, can monitor all aspects of their involvement with patients and the MHA ensuring true compliance with the MHA in its entirety to reduce preventable errors and clerical based unlawful detentions.
Clinical benefit
Thalamos has helped reduce time spent amending forms per AMHP as they no longer need to travel to physically amend forms.
Patient benefits
Patients can be discharged 1-3 days sooner by trusts using Thalamos – estimated annual saving costs of between £360,000 and £1.08m.
Operational benefit
Thalamos removes the ability to lose forms, which supports cross-organisational working relationships and speeds up treatment times.
We believe that there should be no distinction or disparity between emergency physical and mental health care as exists currently.
